Sahi checks what you type. To do that it has to read the text in the field you are writing in, and send it to the server your organisation runs. This page says exactly what is sent, what is kept, and for how long.

Who runs the server

Sahi is not a hosted service. The extension only talks to the server address your organisation configured, using a key your organisation issued. If you are using Sahi at work, your employer operates that server and their policies apply to the data on it. If you do not know who configured your copy, ask whoever gave you the key.

What is sent, and when

When you stop typing for about a second in a field Sahi is watching, the text in that field is sent to your organisation's Sahi server so it can be checked. Nothing is sent while you are still typing, and nothing is sent from a field you have not typed in.

What is never sent

• Password fields, and any field a website marks as sensitive.
• Fields on sites you or your administrator have switched Sahi off for.
• Your browsing history, the pages you visit, or anything you have not typed into a watched field.
• Cookies, credentials or any data belonging to the sites you use.

What is kept

• A short-lived cache. Checked text may be stored on your organisation's server for up to two weeks so the same paragraph is not re-checked repeatedly. Administrators can switch this off entirely, in which case nothing is written to disk.
• Usage counts. The number of checks, the site's hostname, and how many corrections were offered. This never includes the text.
• Corrected phrases, only if enabled. An administrator may switch on a report of repeated mistakes. It records the short phrase corrected — never the message. Anything longer than six words is discarded, and anything containing a run of three or more digits is discarded, so identifiers, amounts, doses and dates are not stored. This is off unless your organisation turns it on.

Who else sees it

If your organisation has enabled AI checking, text being checked or rewritten is sent from their server to Anthropic's API for processing and is returned immediately. It is not used to train models. Organisations that do not want this switch it off, and Sahi then runs entirely on the rule pack and a local grammar service on their own infrastructure.

Sahi sells nothing, shows no advertising, and shares data with no other third party.

Stored in your browser

The server address, your access key and your on-off preferences are stored in your browser profile. They are sent only to the server address configured. Removing the extension removes them.

Your choices

• Switch Sahi off entirely, or for one site, from the toolbar icon at any time.
• Remove the extension. Nothing further is sent.
• Ask your administrator to revoke your key, delete your usage records, or clear the cache.

Children

Sahi is a workplace tool and is not directed at children under 13.

If what is sent or kept changes, this page changes with it and the date above is updated.
